Remortgaging explained...

If you have any questions about remortgaging, watch this video:

Are you planning to remortgage your home? Whether it’s to adjust after a fixed-rate period, access additional funds, or manage changes in personal circumstances,

this video outlines the crucial documents lenders and solicitors require for compliance. Ensure you have an up-to-date photo ID showing your current address, such as your passport or driving licence. If unavailable, alternative proof of address options include recent bank or credit card statements, annual council tax bills, mortgage statements, or utility bills dated within the last three months.

For employed individuals paid monthly, provide payslips from the last four months. Weekly or fortnightly pay requires the previous 13 or seven payslips, respectively.

Self-employed? Submit a minimum of two years’ tax calculations and taxpayer overviews. Depending on the lender, contractors on the CIS scheme may need 6 to 12 months of vouchers and a copy of their contract. Include the last three months’ bank statements for your main activity accounts, covering where you’re paid, where bills are paid from, and your spending account.

Savings accounts are necessary only if funds are used for a lump sum payment towards your mortgage. Also, have your latest annual mortgage statement or account number ready to disclose outstanding loans. Details of other financial commitments like credit cards, loans, or store cards should include statements, finance agreements, or specifics on credit provider, limit, balance, monthly payments, and remaining term.

Think carefully before securing your debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
